Traditionally, the light was captured and documented on x-rays films. ECL relies on the production of light through an enzyme–substrate interaction. Since the late 1970’s, ECL has replaced radioactive probes and less-sensitive colorimetric assays. High resolution: Accurate quantitation of blots up to 21 × 14 cm in size.This is in stark contrast to film which has a dynamic range that is non-linear and is 1.5 orders of magnitude or less.
